Investigation and Trial of a Bishop
WHEREAS in recent years some questions have arisen regarding the fairness in
the hearing and processing of allegations of improper activity by a Bishop; and
WHEREAS it is desirable that not even the appearance of favoritism or lack of
full and proper consideration be present, if for no other reason than that a
finding of "not guilty" will remove any possible lingering suspicion by persons
not present at the trial; and
WHEREAS it is desirable and important that all persons believe that a
finding of innocent is true and correct;
BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED BY THE 2000 GENERAL CONFERENCE OF THE UNITED METHODIST
CHURCH THAT IN PARAGRAPHS 413.2 AND 413.3 WHEREVER "College of
