Section VIII.
Mission
¶ 562.
Definition--A mission is an administrative body for a field of
work inside or outside the structures of any annual conference, provisional
annual conference, or missionary conference that is under the care of the
General Board of Global Ministries and exercises in a general way the functions
of a district conference.
The purpose of a mission is to
provide ministry with a particular group or region whose needs cannot be fully
met with the existing structures and resources of the annual conference(s). It
may also be the initial stage in moving toward the formation of a provisional or
missionary conference.
The establishment of a mission
may involve special considerations in areas of leadership, language resources,
and/or property.
